We continue to build on our ambitious, broad and balanced curriculum. We have produced our own skills and knowledge progression documents for History, Geography, Computing - more to follow!
The next step is to check how we fit it all into our 2 Year Cycle. We want to ensure that there is not an overload of knowledge that children will have only in their short term memory but that children are able to transfer key knowledge and skills to their long term memory.
We will be using seasonal terms for our topics and using concept enquiry questions for our planning. This year we are trialling this in our Cycle B, using slightly different planning formats and teaching sequences.
The parent overviews are being tweaked as are our Power Projects. Work is still in progress. Power Projects (Home Learning sheets) will be shared before the Half Term breaks and done during Term 2, 4 and 6 to match the topics. Weavers class has gone out slightly early, so we will amend the date to return projects asap!
On the 17th of November, we enjoyed a virtual author talk with Peter Brown, author of The Wild Robot series. Peter talked to us about how he wrote his books, including how he came up with main character 'Ros'. The children enjoyed a live draw along with him too, where the children had a chance to draw the wild robot in action.
On 17th April, we enjoyed an interactive visit from Wiltshire Air Ambulance, where we revised key first aid and life saving skills. We reminded ourselves how to put people in the recovery position, how to give chest compressions to someone who is unconscious, and what to do is someone is choking.
We are preparing and rehearsing for our KS2 Summer production in July 'A Night at the Musicals!'
