Potters

Potters class warmly welcomes our new families, as your children start their Primary school journey at Crockerton School. This year, our class is a Reception/Year 1 group. Mrs. Woodley, an Early Years specialist, is the class teacher every day, supported by teaching assistants Mrs. Connolly and Mrs. Newbery.

We love to learn outside, and our new outdoor area  provides many carefully planned areas, in which the children can explore, play and learn. We have created planted and wild areas, digging spaces, water and sand play, as well as a large under cover canopy and decking area which can be enjoyed whatever the weather.

We believe that children learn best when they are actively engaged in activities that promote curiosity and creativity. Our Early Years learning environment is just part of our beautiful school grounds, where pupils can enjoy being outside, learning from our surroundings, and forging forever friendships.

We are very proud of the community we build with our families and work closely with you to ensure the best possible outcomes for your child. Parents join us every week on our welly walks, and volunteer to hear children read on a regular basis. Families are invited to join us for our weekly Spirit of Crockerton Worship, where we celebrate pupils' achievements.

Every week, children take home a 'Celebration Book' with photos and information about the weeks' learning. Pupils learn to read and write, using the Sounds Write phonics programme. We place reading at the heart of learning and this is reflected in the high performance of pupils' reading across the school.

All children starting school have a 'buddy' from our Year 6 group, and all pupils belong to a 'house' group in the school that are vertically grouped.
We look forward to a wonderful year ahead, working with you and your children.
